Gourmet Coffee Maker
Most of us know the traditional drip brewing gourmet coffee makers that sit in the kitchens of most of our homes. Though the drip variety has the potential to make a decent cup of joe, there are also a variety of other types of great coffee makers that you might want to consider using.
French Press
This type of gourmet coffee maker is a favorite among coffee snobs and for good reason. It makes a great cup of coffee. The great thing is that French Press coffee isn’t as difficult to make as most people might think. It basically involves filling a small glass carafe with coffee grinds and combining it with hot water. After about 5 minutes, you use the plunger/press mechanism on the lid of the carafe to push the coffee grinds down to the bottom, thus filtering them out of the coffee. Then you simply pour and drink. See, it’s that easy!
Espresso Maker
Though there are different kinds of espresso makers, the common method behind them is to combine fine ground coffee and hot water at a high pressure in a short amount of time. As you might guess this is not easy and why you usually see espresso gourmet coffee makers that look like space ships. On the good side, they do make a very full bodied, great tasting coffee, with the added benefits of also creating lattes and cappuccinos.
Single Cup Brewing
A popular and growing brewing method these days, the single cup brewing machines do just that. Usually these machines have some type of water reservoir for quick heating and a loading slot for the single packets of gourmet coffee. The draw is that brewing is quick, easy and you only one cup at a time. All you do is put a pre-made packet of coffee in a slot, place your mug under the spigot, press a button and within less than a minute you have a fresh cup of gourmet coffee. Because of this versatility and no fuss cleaning these types of machines are becoming quite popular in workplace offices. One of the most popular brands of this type of gourmet coffee maker is Keurig.
